Emily was in Cyril’s spaceship. However, Cyril was not in Cyril’s spaceship. Emily was alone in the comfy interior of the glowing cloud. She was sitting in a cushioned mahogany chair next to a shelf of books. They all related to training techniques. Emily picked out a red, leather book. “Inspirational Quotes and Stories for Training and Excellency!” Emily read aloud. That was the title, “Inspirational Quotes and Stories for Training and Excellency!” Emily decided to read that book, it seemed pretty cool. She needed some motivation anyway.
But before we read this book, you’re going to get some back story on why exactly Emily was in Cyril’s glowing cloud of a spaceship without him. Well, to be frank, she stole it. Yup. Emily stole Cyril’s spaceship. I can hear you reader, “What? But she had a good alignment!” Yes, she does. But she didn’t steal the ship from greed or malice or anything. Emily stole from Cyril on a challenge from the Lord Seraph himself. Cyril had jokingly said that Emily hadn’t a chance of getting ANYTHING past him. So Emily had stolen his space ship. I mean, that’s fair right? Cyril wouldn’t doubt Emily anymore! Emily laughed to herself. Well, now that you know the who, what, when, where, and why- let’s move on.
Emily opened the red, leather book and began skipping around the book. She landed on the quotes section first.
“You’re gonna have to go through hell, worse than any nightmare you’ve ever dreamed. But when it’s over, I know you’ll be the one standing. You know what you have to do. DO IT!” – Duke (Tony Burton), Rocky IV
“Most power lifters share some common defects, as a whole for whatever reason, LOVE to punish, beat and torture ourselves beyond the limits of mind and body. It is our spirit that prevails. This defect of intelligence and sensibility pushes us onto the next level, makes us better and stronger. We all have lifted sick and badly hurt,, When this subject comes up with normal people and other meatheads, we all have the prideful smile when we talk about lifting with a 100 degree temperature or a torn groin. Thank God that therapy doesn’t work on us.” – Captain Kirk Karwoski
Emily grimaced. A torn groin didn’t sound very nice.
“To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.” – Buddha
“That’s a good weight…for a small woman” – Dorian Yates
Emily glared at the book. “Sexist.” She muttered indignantly. And on that note, Emily began flipping through the rest of the book. She founded the motivational stories section.
“In an age where women did not have too many opportunities to get involved in sports, Jackie Mitchell did the unthinkable: she became a professional baseball pitcher. In 1931, at the age of 17, Mitchell was signed to a contract by the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts. That right there is pretty inspirational. But it gets a lot better. In her very first week with the Lookouts, Mitchell had to go up against the mighty New York Yankees in an exhibition game. This of course meant she would be facing baseball legends Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth.”
Emily mentally cheered. Yay for women in sports!
“South African Natalie du Toit was a promising swimmer on the verge of making her first Olympic games in when, in 2001, she lost her left leg below the knee after an auto accident.
Amazingly, the amputation of this swimmer’s leg didn’t stop her. Hell, it hardly even slowed her down.
Not only has Natalie dominated the Paralympic summer games (winning a total of 10 gold medals in 2004 and 2008); she also still competes against able-bodied swimmers. In 2003, she won gold in the 800 meter freestyle at the All-Africa Games. Then, in 2008, Natalie finally achieved her goal of qualifying for the Summer Olympics. She competed and finished 16th in the women’s 10km race.”
Emily was truly inspired. She immediately leapt out of the space ship, unaware of where she was. Seemed like Earth she immediately started kicking everything. She had read about the “Lighting Kick.” In some book and was now truly motivated to learn it. And so she did.
