Thinking

Makoto sat on a rock on his homeworld of Earth. There were so many new fighters. So many new races that eclipsed his own. It wasn't exactly uplifting, that feeling in your gut that your inferior. Yet, in a way it was somewhat comforting.

Emily had been screwing in around in Cyril's spaceship when she flipped the wrong lever. A glowing cloud tore through the landscape and stopped near Makoto. Emily's head popped up and smoke billowed up from the ship. "Hi, Makoto." Emily coughed and climbed out of the ship. The ship disappeared, presumably to repair itself.

Makoto sat up and looked at the tuffle. "Oh, hey Emily. Taking his ship for a joyride again?" Makoto stopped and looked her over for a moment. "You've gotten a lot stronger. Heheh, At the current rate you will surpass me in a little while." The Saiyan stood up and stretched. "

"Yeah, Cyril hardly uses it anymore." Emily said. She shrugged modestly, "I'm still a long ways off from your power."

Makoto looked at her. "The thing is I really can't keep up with everyone else anymore. I just don't have the time to train and learn new abilities. Plus I am just outclassed. My race is a fairly weak one compared to the others."

Emily nodded, "I can hardly keep up with the others myself. I have to stay up late and work myself like an animal, and I'm pretty sure Cyril's driven himself insane trying to cure himself and keep himself alive when he's weak." Emily sighed and rubbed her nose. "I think if everyone would slow down a bit, things would be better."

Makoto sighed. "To tell you the truth...I'm tired. My entire life has been fighting. Since the moment my bloodlust first awakened I have done nothing but kill. First it was fun. I loved fighting. Then it became a curse when I gained a family, but now...now I just don't care."

"Well, maybe it's time to stop. Make your amends and go home to your family." Emily suggested.

Makoto laughed. "What family? My wife is never around. Vince and Celia went to live with Riza and El. Ryuga disappeared and my other family died."

"Well... do you have any other pastimes other than fighting?" Emily asked. She was no good at emotional comfort.

((Saiyan race has been fixed, fucking finally. I think anyway.))

Makoto stopped for a minute. "Heh...I guess I never really bothered to look. My life has been so dominated by killing and fighting I never had the time to try anything else. That's kinda sad isn't it? Been alive for over 100 years and I never did anything except fight."

"100 years? You're pretty old, maybe you should take up knitting." Emily wondered if it was too early for a joke.

The joke was lost on Makoto. "Knitting? What's that? Is that some kind of meditational marital art?"

"Er... I suppose it can be meditation. It's just weaving thread into clothes and stuff." Emily wondered how one went a hundred years without learning about knitting.

Makoto tilted his head. "Making clothes? I don't think that is for me. Thanks for the suggestion though." Makoto stopped and thought for a moment. "Can you do me a favor?"

Emily shrugged, "Sure."

Makoto layed down again. "Watch Cyril. At some point I know he will snap. Everyone, even him, has their breaking point. And he has lived for a long long time. Time doesn't just fix wounds you know? It also can just re-open them."

Emily rubbed the back of her head. "Yeah... you know, I haven't heard from him since before he summoned Herminos. He seemed pretty excited about something. He mentioned something about finding a way to cure himself, but then told me to stay away from him. Weird."

Makoto, who was now resting with his eyes closed, grunted. "I can understand why. Is it weird that I am jealous of him?"

"Why?" Emily asked. Made sense to her, Cyril was a pretty enviable fellow.

Makoto chuckled slightly. "Because he is sick."

Now Emily was confused, "Why do you envy him that?"

Makoto continued speaking with his eyes closed. "I don't get sick...I don't get hungry. Hell, I don't even feel pain. It sounds nice but after awhile you don't even know if your really even alive anymore. I envy him for still being able to feel like he is alive."

"How do you manage that?" Emily asked bewilderedly.

Makoto sighed. "I don't even remember. It was over five years ago now. I don't remember how I did it but I became a god. But when the universe fractured and re-pieced itself I lost the godhood but kept the godlike body. No pain, no hunger, no aging, nothing."
