Learning to Teach Empty

Ryuzaki was standing in a simple, modern flat that held a couple of bookshelves, a desk, a bed, and a wooden waste bin. Cyril walked up behind, “This is yours. How do you like it?” he asked cheerfully. “I need to rig the desk drawer to burn its contents should it be opened the wrong way.” Ryuzaki said monotonously. "Right. You do that. Meet me in the courtyard when you've finished with you're... um... little project…." Cyril left Ryuzaki to his business. He strolled along the empty halls of the Silver Palace and gave some thought to how he would handle Ryuzaki’s training. It would be tricky. Ryuzaki didn’t even know how to fly or use ki, so Cyril would be starting from scratch- which he had never done before. All his previous apprentices had some sort of experience. Cyril frowned. He himself was pretty far along in his combat studies, and he knew very few beginner techniques; only the more advanced ones. In Cyril’s teaching method the extensive knowledge of techniques were very important , but since Ryuzaki was such a novice he would not be able to teach him much in that respect, or if Cyril wanted to he would have to take Ryuzaki to Earth and let him learn himself. Cyril could not do that though. He did not want Ryuzaki back on Earth where he might be tempted to simply put all this behind him and live back at his own home. Cyril couldn’t let that happen. Cyril stopped and came to a reluctant realization. If he wanted to be a good teacher he must be able to teach Ryuzaki the basic techniques, and to do that Cyril would have to lower himself to that level and learn them himself. Again. Fuuuck. Cyril IT’d to Earth because he felt it was fitting to learn them there.
Cyril appeared in a thin forest. Excellent, this place would serve his purposes well. Cyril sighed and admitted to himself that he had been lacking in the physical aspect of fighting for a long time, and that this had been long in the coming. Mainly Cyril’s style relied on outclassing his opponents with superior techniques and strategies and battling mainly with ki. His melee skills were sorely lacking and he knew it was wrong of him to let them stay that way. Cyril also knew that Ryuzaki likely would not favor ki use since he didn’t even know how to use it yet, and that if he wanted to effectively teach Ryuzaki he would have to brush up on melee.
Cyril squared his shoulders and lifted his hands and elbows. He would start with a review of what he knew before what the people of Universe 42B called the Reset- Cyril had never bothered to relearn the melee techniques he had known before the Reset. Cyril stopped himself, and gently chided himself for his bad habit. Cyril removed a thick towel from his coat and laid it down on the ground. Cyril sat down cross legged on the towel to keep his nice clothes clean and began his meditation. One must always ready himself mentally and physically before strenuous training or battle. Cyril cleared his mind and let everything go blank. He locked in on the flow of energy through him and focused on the tips of his finger tips. He widened his focus to his hands. To his forearms. To his shoulders. To his chest. Cyril held his intense focus for almost an hour. Finally he let go of it and let his mind go blank. Cyril focused on his toes. He widened to his feet. To his shins. To his legs. Cyril held his focus for another silent hour. Cyril exhaled and let his focus on his legs go. Cyril calmly stood and put the towel back in his coat. Cyril squared his shoulders once more and lifted his hands and elbows. He removed some cloth from underneath his hat and wrapped it deftly around both his hands. Cyril approached a nice solid tree and settled into a stance. Cyril jabbed at the tree softly, so as not to rip it from its roots and send it flying across the forest. He picked up speed gradually until his hands were a blur and bark was flying from the tree. Cyril dug into the tree with his punches until the middle was bare of bark and he threw a devastating haymaker and knocked the tree down. With a loud creak and smash it fell to the ground. Cyril moved on to the next tree deftly and met it with another flurry of jabs and until it too fell. Cyril turned and began delivering another flurry of jabs to the tree until it fell. Cyril ran to the next tree, but didn’t start hitting it at first. First, Cyril took a moment to really put some force behind his shots and then began smashing into the tree with quick punches. This tree fell even quicker than the previous ones. Cyril moved to the next tree, and the next. Cyril did this for a few hours until the poor forest had run out of trees to offer him. But that was okay, within a year this place would have been cut down for development anyway. Cyril had really just saved some corporation some money. “Alright, that’s good. Wolf Fang Fist? Mastered. Hmmm, what was that other one? Soaring Dragon Strike? Yeah that sounds about right. These names are really dramatic.” Cyril muttered aloud. Cyril began shadow boxing. Right hook followed by a left hook. “No that isn’t it....” Cyril threw a jab and then another and then a strong haymaker. “Noope…” Cyril frowned. “What was it?” Cyril stood with his hands on his hips in thought. “Oh right, hook and uppercut to the body.” Cyril mimed throwing a low hook and uppercut. “Yeah that was it. Now I just need a target to practice on….” Cyril looked around at the empty forest. No more trees in sight.
With a tired sigh Cyril rose into the air looking for a place to train without disturbing anyone. Cyril didn’t really feel good about decimating another forest, so he decided that perhaps he should enter a city and find a gym or someplace made for his type of business. Cyril flew to the west. Surely West City had a place for fighting. Cyril reached West City and they did in fact have a place for training. He entered the gym and approached the man whom he presumed was in charge. “How much do I need to pay you for a sparring session?” The man turned around and observed Cyril. He clearly couldn’t sense power levels. “You’ll need to buy a membership.” He scowled. Cyril shifted impatiently, “I have over three million zenni on my person. How much?” The man observed Cyril’s thin frame, “On you, eh?” The man threw a punch a Cyril but Cyril caught the punch in his hand and twisted it down. There was a snap as the man’s arm was broken. “Fuck!” The man shouted in pain. Members from inside came running to the man’s defense. “Get ‘em, he has millions on ‘em!” The other members threw themselves at Cyril but he deftly dispatched them using the Soaring Dragon Strike and the Wolf Fang Fist, but not a drop of ki.
